Dubai strengthened its position among the world's leading tourist destinations in 2025. According to the latest data, the city welcomed around 19.5 million foreign tourists and became one of the world's top three most popular destinations, alongside Bangkok and Istanbul. Despite its location in the desert, the metropolis continues to attract travellers from all continents.
The foundations for this success were laid more than ten years ago, when the emirate's authorities set a course for the development of a large-scale tourist infrastructure. By 2025, the goals set had largely been achieved. In the first six months of the year, Dubai was visited by almost 10 million people, and by the end of the year, the total number of tourists exceeded 19 million.
One of the key factors for growth has been the developed transport and hotel infrastructure. Dubai International Airport remains one of the busiest in the world, and the hotel stock continues to expand rapidly. New accommodation facilities are opening in the city, ranging from premium hotels with coastal views to comfortable hotels geared towards family holidays. The total number of hotels has already exceeded 800.
The tourist flow to Dubai is diverse. Business trips account for a significant share — the city regularly hosts major international exhibitions, forums and conferences. Families choose theme parks and entertainment complexes, including sports-oriented ones. Shopping tourism remains an important destination thanks to large shopping centres and seasonal festivals.
Medical tourism has developed separately. Local clinics meet international standards and attract patients from Europe, Asia and Africa. Along with this, tourists visit the historic areas of the city, get acquainted with the local cuisine and new forms of leisure, including unusual gastronomic projects.
Experts note that the high level of security, cleanliness and comfort of the urban environment remain important competitive advantages for Dubai. The growth of tourism has a significant impact on the economy, bringing in billions of dollars and creating new jobs. The emirate's authorities have already announced further plans to develop ‘smart’ tourism and environmental initiatives.
Against the backdrop of the recovery in international travel, Dubai is increasingly seen as an example of a successful combination of modern technology and cultural traditions. Analysts expect the city to maintain its high tourist appeal in 2026.
