A new shopping centre with an area of over 200,000 square feet (approximately 18,600 m²) will open in the Dubai South area in the coming years. The facility will be part of the South Bay residential complex and will be located directly on the shore of a one-kilometre-long artificial lagoon.
The project was developed by Dubai South Properties. The building will have three floors with fully open walkways and galleries that will provide natural ventilation and constant views of the water. Part of the roof will be converted into a viewing terrace with panoramic views of the lagoon and adjacent park areas.
The shopping centre will be part of the large South Bay community, where more than 800 villas and townhouses have already been built, as well as over 200 waterfront mansions. The lagoon is surrounded by a three-kilometre promenade, private beaches, recreation areas and sports facilities. Residents will have everything they need within walking distance: shops, cafes, a medical centre, a fitness club and playgrounds.
The new mall will house about 60 boutiques, two large anchor tenants, a food court with restaurants serving different cuisines and several wellness areas. Underground and above-ground parking will accommodate 400 cars. Environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions are being used in the construction.
According to Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Director of Dubai South Properties, the centre will enhance the area's appeal to families and investors by creating a complete infrastructure in the southern part of the emirate. The opening is scheduled for 2027–2028.
The new facility will continue Dubai's trend of creating retail spaces integrated with nature and residential neighbourhoods. For Dubai South residents, this means fewer trips to the city centre and a more comfortable daily routine.
